Guitars and Sunscreen

Hello summer! How have you been since we last met? Hot and sticky like a mosh pit gone horribly wrong? Good.

Now that we’re all sporting our Nike headbands, wearing our cut-off’s, and finally shaving our done-till-death indie winter beards, I think its time we talked about the importance of sunscreen and Gibson SG headstock repair.

Wear sunscreen, like that cheesy song says.

If you’re going to play hard and travel carelessly, your going to break things. SG’s have a notoriously fragile headstock design, and for better off worse, mine re-broke. Luckily our good friends in I Am Frankie Scrapmetal and Everything Ends helped me out for a couple nights, letting me use one of their guitars while mine was in two pieces. The funny thing is, I’m fairly certain that the break was caused by the extreme summer heat and lack of sunscreen applied to my case. Add to that an inferior previous repair and you have a recipe for a re-break. I’m actually glad it didn’t happen while I was playing it. In a fit of showmanship I probably would’ve smashed it. Instead, the whole ordeal got turned into a nice father-son bonding project for fathers day (my dad happens to be a top notch craftsman and had all the necessary tools for the fix). The guitar has since never played better.

If you happen to get a chance between all the BBQ and reggae music, please to a stop over to our Facebook page (just click the icon above) or go to http://www.facebook.com/phantasmband and add us! We are also looking for a few street teamers to help get the word out about the new record. If you would be interested in doing something like that post a comment below and we’ll get in touch with you about what you can do to help.

May 21: opening for Hotspur and Gabriel The Marine in Wilmington, DE

Very excited about this one. It’s one of our few and far between all ages shows at The Harmony Grange in Wilmington, DE. We will be opening for Hotspur (you may have seen their video in rotation on MTV-U) and Gabriel The Marine, who has also been making some national noise lately.

See you there!

If you don’t fit the scene…

…change the background.

For quite some time now, I’ve done my best to cobble together some sort of HTML Frankenstein to represent Phantasm at our official web address enterthephantasm.com.  Its always been kind of a pain in the tuckus, and I’ve never been adept enough to incorporate all the social media elements, digital and physical merch fulfillment, or dynamic user content that a delicate social creature like Phantasm requires.

In releasing our newest album Graph The Pulse we wanted to make sure that you, the passionate and essential element to our sexy psycho-acoustic space parade, would have a dedicated hub of information and a way to disseminate and interact with us and other fans. The short and long of it is we needed to find a design wizard of truly epic proportions.

Thank gosh for Alex. He’s made a wonderful site for us and I hope you like it as much as we do. I cannot recommend him enough. If you like what you see here check out his link below.
